Assisting in promoting Muay Thai in Sri Lanka

Poj Harnpol, Ambassador-Designate of Thailand to Sri Lanka, made a monetary donation to the Muay Thai Association of Sri Lanka (MTASL) at a Muay Thai gym, in Narahenpita, Colombo 5. The donation aims to assist MTASL in promoting Muay Thai in Sri Lanka.

Asoka Jayarathna, Chairman of MTASL, thanked the Ambassador and Thailand for the donation and congratulated Thailand on the recognition of Muay Thai as an Olympic sport by the international Olympic Committee (OIC).

The Chairman also gave a brief overview of the history of Muay Thai development in Sri Lanka and handed over an action plan for “VISION 2028”, a project to raise Muay Thai awareness around Sri Lanka.

The new Ambassador thanked MTASL for the commitment in elevating the status of Muay Thai and expressed desire to work closely with MTASL to promote Muay Thai to a wider audience in the future.

The event took place on Monday (16).
