Assisting flood affected communities with communications relief
As an emergency crisis response, Airtel Lanka announced that the company has enabled its customers who are residing in flood affected areas, with free talk time and data facilities.
Totalling over LKR 8 million, the telco revealed that daily allowances would be given for five consecutive days from June 7, 2021, to provide communications relief to those affected by the severe floods, helping them stay connected.
“As a responsible network provider, we believe that in times of distress we must proactively assist affected communities with relief and accessibility. We understand that the unfortunate combination of a pandemic, lockdown and floods is extremely difficult to deal with, and hope that this benefit will help those in critical need of it,” Airtel Lanka Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Ashish Chandra said.
The provision is given to Airtel users in the areas affected by floods, which include the districts of Gampaha, Colombo, Kalutara, Ratnapura, Puttalam and Nuwara Eliya.
