Assassination of ex-Japanese PM Abe: message of condolence

On behalf of Sri Lanka-Japan Business Council and Lanka-Japan Friendship Society, Merrick Gooneratne has issued the following statement on the assassination of former Japanese Premier Shinzo Abe: “We wish to convey our heartfelt condolences at the loss of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, cruelly felled down by an assassin’s bullet. The former PM was a great friend of Sri Lanka and supported our bilateral relations, enhanced during his official visit to Sri Lanka in Sept 2014 as the first Japanese PM to visit Sri Lanka in 24 years. Our deepest sympathies to his family and the people of Japan. We mourn his untimely death.”
