Arrest of YouTuber election gimmick – JVP
The recent arrest of a controversial YouTuber is an election gimmick, the JVP says.JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake told the media yesterday that the arrested YouTuber was one of the social media activists who had backed Gotabaya Rajapaksa in the 2019 presidential race.
“It is natural for dramas of this nature to be enacted when there is an election around the corner. We still recall how a snake came up in an empty plastic bottle soon after the Presidential elections campaign ended officially last time. It is said that the snake came from the Naga Loka with a message. The mastermind behind the Easter Sunday terror attacks has not yet been found out. The recent arrest of the YouTuber we suspect is just another drama.
The arrested YouTuber is not a member of the NPP or the JVP. When he asked for appointments for interviews, we gave our time and participated in those interviews. We have our own assessment of that person. We also have our own assessment of Buddhism and its culture in this country. It is laughable to see the responses of the Opposition Leader and the Government on this affair of arresting the YouTuber,” Dissanayake said.
