Army Commander’s League to kick-off today

The opening edition of the ‘Army Commander’s League’ will kick-off today(5), at the Dombagoda Army Cricket Ground and Saliyapura Gajaba Cricket Grounds.
The tournament which will be played in a T20 format will see a number of national cricketers in action including the likes of soldiers Thisara Perera, Dinesh Chandimal, Seekuge Prasanna and Asela Gunaratne, who will lead their respective teams.
Perera is set to lead the Western Warriors with the likes of Avishka Fernando, Dhammika Prasad and Nuwan Pradeep in his line up while Dushmantha Chameera, Suranga Lakmal and Wanindu Hasaranga will feature for the Southern Warriors under Chandimal’s captaincy.
Gunaratne will lead the Eastern Warriors with Kusal Mendis, Chathuranga de Silva and Sandun Weerakkody to chose from, as two national players – who are not soldiers – will be allowed at a time in the playing XI.
Prasanna’s Northern Warriors will feature explosive batsmen Bhanuka Rajapakse and Dasun Shanaka, while Akila Dananjaya also will be an option after serving his one year ban from international cricket.
The tournament will be played over the course of 12 days with the four teams set to play each other twice in the group stage, before the final to be played on the 16th of October.
