ARISE SRI LANKA taking shape

They say when the going gets tough, the tough get going…and that is precisely the position where Sri Lanka is concerned.

When the coronavirus pandemic, engulfed the world, most countries found the going extremely tough, and, eventually, Covid-19 had a field day – claiming many lives, in the process.

The big nations, in the Western world, seemed to have suffered the most.

We, in Sri Lanka, however, can be proud of the fact that we were able to tackle the Covid-19 situation, to a great extent.

Even the World Health Organisation (WHO) has acknowledged the fact that we have handled the coronavirus pandemic, in an exceptional way.

In this context, we have got to salute the frontliners, who worked tirelessly to keep the pandemic, under control, in our paradise island.

Just a ‘thank you’ wouldn’t do, where Richard de Zoysa is concerned. He wants the world to know how successful we have been in curtailing the spread of Covid-19, and the people behind the project.

Richard, Chairman of Elite Promotions & Entertainment (Pvt) Ltd., is always in the news when it comes to grandeur musical events, and, this time, he has decided to do something totally different – as a ‘thank you’ to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, the government, the tri-forces, the police, doctors, nurses, the health authorities, and all the others involved in the fight against Covid-19.

Several local artistes, although very badly hit by the pandemic – where work is concerned – have decided to join forces, with Richard, to tell the world, in song, how grateful the country is to all those responsible for keeping Sri Lanka safe.

The project, Richard is working on, would not only showcase Sri Lankan entertainers, to the world, but also raise funds, and create awareness on preventive/curative steps to curtail the spread of this deadly virus.

The show will take the form of a telethon, on Saturday, August 29th, and will be aired to many parts of the globe, said Richard.

The show will not be open to the public, due to the safety requirements of facial masks and social distancing, but you would be able to take in the scene, in the comfort of your home, on TV and social media.

ARISE SRI LANKA will bring into the spotlight several well-known local acts.

A doctor, too, has been included in the line-up, in order to show the world that we have got doctors who are excellent singers, as well.

Dr. Nilanka Anjalee Wickramasinghe will face the mike, backed by the group Mirage, and her contribution will be ‘Killing Me Softly.’

Those who have heard her sing have described her as excellent.
