Approximately 4000 teachers to be recruited in 2024 – President

Speaking at the Ceremony held to award Letters of Appointment to 2320 Graduate Teachers held at the Temple Trees on Wednesday (03) evening, President Ranil Wickremesinghe said that the government expects to  recruit  approximately 4,000 teachers in 2024 and assured that more funds would be allocated to fill teaching vacancies next year.

The President emphasized the pivotal role of teachers in shaping the future generation and said that it was the responsibility of the educators to instill character and virtue in their students. He also stressed the importance of preserving the respect associated with the teaching profession, labeling it as an honourable vocation and urged teachers to continually update their subject knowledge, recognizing the dynamic nature of education in today’s world.
