APIIT Graduation 2022

The Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT) Sri Lanka, the largest provider of foreign degrees in the country, held its Annual Graduation at the Main Hall of the BMICH recently (Dec 9).The event was graced by Jason Avanceña, Managing Director of Nestlé Lanka PLC as Chief Guest and Professor Martin Jones, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive, Staffordshire University UK in attendance virtually. The Graduation saw 456 students receive undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Business, Computing and Law from Staffordshire University, UK.

The event marked the awarding of degrees in BEng (Hons) Software Engineering, BEng (Hons) Computer Networks and Security, BSc (Hons) Computer Science, BSc (Hons) Cyber Security, BSc (Hons) International Business Management, LLB (Hons) Law, MBA, MSc Computer Science (Business Computing), MSc Technology Management and LLM International Business Law.

The ceremony celebrated the success of 80 students receiving First Class Honours degrees, 154 students receiving Second Class (1st Division) degrees, and 46 postgraduate students receiving degrees with Distinctions.

The Gold Medalists this year are Nohim Lakindu Hewawasam from BEng (Hons) Software Engineering, Fathima Amira Mohamed Azeer from BEng (Hons) Computer Networks and Security, Pathmaraj Heishigan from BSc (Hons) Computer Science, Santhiapu Sajani Dhananga De Silva from BSc (Hons) International Business Management, Jayasinghe Mudiyanselage Darshika Chamali Jayasinghe from LLB (Hons) Law, Rajakaruna Mudiyanselage Piyumi Erangi Rajakaruna from MBA, Anton Srihan Danushka Miranda from MSc Computer Science (Business Computing) and Jeewantha Ashan Andradige Silva Jayaratne from LLM International Business Law.

Chief Guest Jason Avanceña congratulated the graduates and said: “Forge ahead with passion, adapt with agility and create a positive impact”. Professor Martin Jones, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive, Staffordshire University stated: “Today, you become a member of a worldwide international community of Staffordshire and APIIT graduates who are shaping their own futures and those of their communities”.
