Live oriental music to create the right atmosphere at Ape Kema

Mount Lavinia has turned out to be the place for those who love going out for a meal.

Of late, I’ve noticed quite a few new outlets have cropped up but one is not quite sure how authentic is the food they shout about. Is it the real thing!

However, when it comes to authentic Sri Lankan food, I would say there is no denying the fact that there is no better place than Ape Kema, at the Mount Lavinia Hotel,

The Sunday Night Sri Lankan Dinner Buffet – by Chef Publis – at the Governor’s Restaurant of the Mount Lavinia Hotel (MLH) is where you would experience the authenticity of Sri Lankan food.

The hotel’s newly appointed Chief Operating Officer, Anura Dewapura, was the concept bearer of Ape Kema, back in 2010, during his tenure as General Manager, from 2008 to 2012.

And now that Dewapura is back in the scene, Ape Kama has been revamped, on a grand scale, and is purely dedicated for everything Sri Lankan that your taste palate desires.

Enriched in goodness of traditional cuisine, music, culture and atmosphere, Ape Kama creates edibles for the guests to enjoy, with the right kind of music to make your dining experience extra special.

The famous Chef Publis is promising everyone the best flavorsome experience at Ape Kema.

Served from starters to desserts as pre-cooked and from live cooking stations, Ape Kama will give guests an unforgettable experience.

The Dinner Buffet on Sunday 22nd October 2023 featured live oriental music and included Kavum making, along with Chef Publis’ own recipes – Gas Waduru Curry, Bathrasagulawa, Kaliya Curry and Kompittu, as well as aboriginal cuisine, such as Beef Dum Massa.

There were also Live Cooking stations for Kottu, Hoppers, Roti, etc.

During the Ape Kema Dinner Buffet, on Sunday evenings, the Governor’s Restaurant converts its ambience into a village oriented, authentic environment, starting from the menu, dishes, decorations, staff uniforms and restaurant music to create a Sri Lankan atmosphere where the guests will absorb the real experience.

Music has been playing a vital role in this themed buffet. Oriental, traditional and eastern music is bonded with this concept and a special band, with guest artistes, play live for the guests who are dining.

The last Sunday of every month will be extra special for Ape Kema guests as a celebrity musician will be seen in action at the Governor’s Restaurant.

Anura Dewapura says the Mount Lavinia Hotel is a Destination, adding that the paradise beach with alluring city views, mesmerizing history with a romantic love story, good food, good music, art and culture are the pillars that make the Mount Lavinia Hotel a Destination.

“Our plan is to recreate that excitement and experience while introducing top class cuisines, good food, fine beverages and concepts such as Soul Food, Ape Kema, Latin, Italian and Cajun Cuisines to revitalize this precious property.”

I’m now doubly sure all roads will lead to the Mount Lavina Hotel to experience Ape Kema at the Governor’s Restaurant.

Yes, now that you know where the happening place for authentic Sri Lankan food is, make your next dining out a truly memorable outing…at Ape Kema.
