Anura says Ranil showing his true colours

The Ranil Wickremesinghe administration that had no legitimacy and would unleash a reign of oppression against the masses, JVP leader, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, said.The decision to arrest the Inter University Students Federation (IUSF) Convenor on bogus charges and the attacks on the Gota Go Gama (GGG) in the early hours of Friday, were only the beginning.

“Those without any legitimacy in the eyes of the people depend on the military to prop them up. This is why Ranil is pretending that he cares about the troops. This is a man who has never cared about the security forces in his entire political career,” the JVP leader said.

Dissanayake said that the JVP and other progressive forces would not be cowed by the government’s oppression and that Ranil must realize that the tactics he used in the late 1980s can no longer be operationalised.

“Although the people have chased away the Rajapaksas, their henchmen are still in Parliament. These elements, too, must be chased away,” he said.

The Ranil Wickremesinghe led government has no legitimacy in the eyes of the people and his attempts at oppression will adversely affect tourism, remittances and investments, the JVP leader said.
