Parliament on Wednesday approved the Anti-Corruption Bill without a division."The bill is passed with amendments," Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena informed the House.

Both government and opposition MPs had submitted 196 amendments to the bill which had been debated for two days.  The Bill was passed in the second reading stage last week and owing to time

constraints, its committee stage passing was put off till yesterday as the drafters needed time to include the amendments that have been agreed.

The Supreme Court had informed the Speaker that the draft bill had 28 clauses which were inconsistent with the Constitution. Those clauses had been amended.
