Another underworld hitman arrested at BIA on his arrival from Dubai to kill businessman

Roshan Chathuraka, the alleged chief hitman of underworld leader Ganemulla Sanjeewa, who was arrested by the STF on Wednesday at the Bandaranaike International Airport as he arrived to assassinate a businessman in Attanagalle.

He had arrived from UAE that morning. The suspect has confessed to a number of crimes he has committed, the STF said.

Among the murders he has committed is the assassination of Neville Perera, the father of an underworld leader known as Kehelbaddala Padme on 02 February 2008.

Chathuraka was involved in several drug related offenses and robberies before escaping to Dubai.The suspect has masterminded several crimes from Dubai as well, the STF said. The most recent of these is the assassination of a criminal named Dunumala Sarath in July 2023.

The STF has handed him over to the Seethawaka Crimes Investigation Division for further investigations.Ganemulla Sanjeewa too is in police custody on detention orders after being arrested on his return from Dubai.
