Another quarantine escapee arrested with accomplice

The Arachchikattuwa Police yesterday arrested an escapee from the Gallella COVID-19 quarantine centre, along with an associate that harboured him.

They were arrested when they visited a bank at Arachchikattuwa.

A spokesman for Arachchikattuwa Police said that when they contacted a regional health officer, he had said 14 days had already passed since the suspect was placed under quarantine. The police then took the suspects to the Arachchikattuwa hospital.

The escapee had first travelled to Kurunegala after fleeing the quarantine centre at Gallella. Then he travelled to Naranwala and Kuliyapitiya before coming to Arachchikattuwa. He travelled in buses.
