Another police operation nets 47 suspects with various drugs from near 149 schools

The police, on Thursday (22), arrested 47 people, with narcotics during raids carried out near 149 schools in the Western ProvinceAmong those arrested is a 17-year-old student near a school in Mirihana, caught with cannabis.

The raids were conducted on the instructions of Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province, Deshabandu Tennakoon.The police recovered 9.630 grams of heroin, 2.38 grams of crystal methamphetamine (ICE), 207.59 grams of cannabis, and 1.26 kilos of Mawa.

This follows a similar anti-drug operation carried out earlier this week, where the police arrested 75 suspects.Police said the raids will continue in the future.
