Anjalika, Kiran win Under 18 singles titles

Ave Maria Convent, Negombo player Anjalika Kurera and Kiran Viravanathan of British School in Colombo won the Under 18 girls’ and boys’ singles titles respectively of the National Tennis Championship continued at Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts on Thursday.

Viravanathan scored 1-6, 7-6(5), 10-8 to beat Thehan Wijemanne in the boys’ final but in the men’s singles Viravanathan was eliminated in the quarter-finals.

Reigning national singles champion Kurera added her second singles title of this championship when she beat Sajida Razick 6-3, 1-6, 13-11 in the final.

It was her second national singles Under 18 title as well as she was the winner of the age category final in 2019. She did not take part in the 2020 edition due to studies.
