Chit-Chat

Achini Hansamali is a familiar face, on social media, and that’s because she is involved in the modelling scene. In addition to ramp modelling, she has also done photo shoots, and the plus factor is that she did her training at the International Academy of Beauticians. What’s more, Achini is an animal love – having 15 cats and five dogs!

I had a chat with Achini, last week, and this is how it all went…

1. How would you describe yourself?

Really, I’m a simple girl and I always strive to lead a simple life. But, I’m sensitive and I tend to get angry too often.

2. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Oh, yes…getting upset over little things. There are times where I get angry, and irritated, for no reason. I have lost some of my good friends because of this. And, I would definitely like to make that change!

3. If you could change one thing about your family, what would it be?

Absolutely nothing! We are a happy lot – my mother, father, elder brother and me.

4. School?

I went to Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya – Colombo 07. At school, I was a very quiet girl, mainly concentrating on my studies.

5. Happiest moment?

I have had many, especially where exams are concerned, when the Grade 5 scholarship exam, and the O/L and A/L results were out. And, then, the very first time I worked as a ramp model, at a bridal show, in Jaffna, and also as a model at a High Tea event, held at a leading hotel, in Colombo.

6. What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Where I’m concerned, it’s when I’m with my parents, and my family. I would also add that thinking of a simple life, without big hopes, is also perfect happiness.

7. Are you religious?

Yes, I’m a Buddhist, but I also respect all religious traditions. I go to the temple with my family, whenever the opportunity comes my way. And, believe me, there are so many cats and dogs in my home. My mom and I prepare food for them and we are really happy to see them eating, and then playing. I believe in Karma. It’s like a boomerang. We should do good, all the time, because Karma hits you back. If you do good, in this world, good comes back to you. I really believe in Karma.

8. Are you superstitious?

I’m not, as there is no logic behind it.

9. Your ideal guy?

A man who is faithful, knows how to respect women, understand me, and the ability to listen. Also, personality is important, and a good height, as I’m quite tall!

10. Which living person do you most admire?

I actually admire three people – my mom, dad and my uncle. I admire my mom and dad because they love me and understand me, help me and protect me a lot. I admire my uncle because he loves me and helps me a lot. He helps me to choose my work.

11. Which is your most treasured possession?

My family, of course.

12. If you were marooned on a desert island, who would you like as your companion?

I would go for my best friend and that’s because we do understand each other and would be able to plan out how to get out of this situation!

13. Your most embarrassing moment?

Tripping on the stairs! When I was 17, I had to attend a class. I was wearing a long, casual frock. When I was climbing the stairs I, accidentally, stepped on my dress, and I tripped over. The other students saw it and came to my rescue. Yes, it was embarrassing, but a kind of funny, as well. I still laugh, whenever I think of it!

14. Done anything daring?

Nothing serious, but I have done some crazy things, in a funny way, like, for instance, I, along with some friends, decided to surprise another friend, on her birthday. We went to her place, at mid-night, secretly…without the knowledge of my parents!

15. Your ideal vacation?

I would say a trip to Paris, and visit some of the historical places over there.

16. What kind of music are you into?

I don’t have any particular preference. I enjoy listening to all kinds of music.

17. Favourite radio station?

I hardly have the time to listen to the radio, and even if I do, whatever station is entertaining, I give ear to.

18. Favourtie TV station:

Here again, no time for TV.

19. What would you like to be born as in your next life?

I’m truly happy the way I am, so I would like to be the same me, in my next life, as well.

20. Any major plans for the future?

Believe me, I usually I don’t have any major plans in my life. I have only a few small plans. Personally, I believe life without big hopes, and major plans, is very easy, and your mind is free from thinking big. I only want to be a good model, in my profession.
