Anika, Savini, Janali advance to women’s singles semis

Sri Lanka number one Anika Seneviratne, Savini Jayasuriya and the finalist of the last edition Janali Manamperi advanced to the semi-finals of the women’s singles with victories in the quarter finals of the Tennis Nationals 2020 at Sri Lanka Tennis Association courts on Thursday.
Seneviratne cruised to the last four stage when she beat Tuvini de Alwis 6-1, 6-1.
Jayasuriya beat Oneli Perera 6-4, 6-1 and Manamperi scored 6-0, 6-0 to knockout Nishka Vivekanandan.
Seneviratne will meet Jayasuriya, while Manamperi encounters 14-year-old Hasali Gajaba in the semis which will be played on Saturday.
Meanwhile, in the men’s singles Sankha Atukorale ousted Savith Weerasinghe on Thursday to encounter defending champion Sharmal Dissanayake in today’s semi finals.
Atukorale scored 6-3, 7-5 to complete the semi-final line with 16-year-old Chathurya Nilaweera, Yasitha de Silva and Dissanayake.
The men’s singles semi-finals will be played today. (RF)
