Ananda, Visakha Under 13 Schools tennis champions

Ananda College ‘A’ and Visakha Vidyalaya ‘A’ teams clinched the boys’ and girls’ titles respectively of the All-Island Schools Under 13 tennis championships.

Ananda beat St. Peter’s 3-0 in the final after recording a 3-0 win against Royal in the semi-final.

In the finals, Damsath Peiris (beat Jayan Sebastian 6-1, 6-1) and Sadaru Rajasinghe (beat Yehan Amadoru 6-1, 6-1) registered singles victories, while Sethum Kumarage and Menula Liyanage (beat Delwan Fernando and Jhonathan Shamal 6-1, 7-5) won them the doubles match.

Visakha Vidyalaya Under 13 team with officials

For the girls’ title Visakha beat Musaeus 3-1 in the final after edging out Ave Maria Convent 3-2 in the semi-final. For the winners, Nauya Banagala (beat Lumindi Perera 6-2, 6-2), Sahansa Damsiluni (beat Hasindi Jayasinghe 6-2, 6-0) and Janali Dahansa (beat Methuli Naotunna 6-1, 6-2) registered singles victories. For Musaeus, Uuvithma Samarasinghe and Janithi Abeywickrama (beat Yohansa Rathnayake, Dulma Thalagala 6-1, 6-4) recorded a doubles victory.
