Ananda amass 404, last wicket pair fight back for Dharmaraja

Ananda’s massive 400 runs against Richmond and Dharmaraja’s dogged last wicket stand against Rahula were among the highlights of the Under 19 matches played on Monday.
Dharmaraja were on the verge of being bowled out for a low score against Rahula at Uyanwatta before the last wicket pair put on a dogged stand for them to reach 171 for nine wickets at stumps on day one of their match.
They were 85 for eight wickets in the 31st over before losing the ninth wicket for 109 runs but the last wicket pair of Dulara Bandulasena (38n.o.) and Sadeepa Rathnayaka (18n.o .) joined to deny Rahula for more than 60 overs.
At Campbell Park, Richmond were playing host to Ananda, who amassed 404 for seven wickets declared in reply to Richmond’s 355 for seven wickets declared. Nushal Dharmaratne (104 in 143 balls, 12x4s, 2x6s) and Mineth Premarathne (139 in 203 balls, 13x4s, 2x6s) scored centuries for them to take first innings honours.
The day’s other century was scored by Maneesha Rashmika who scored 112 for Dharmasoka to post 325 runs against Nalanda.
