Amber warning on strong winds and rough seas

The Meteorological Department has issued an amber advisory for strong winds and rough seas off the coast extending from Kankesanthurai to Pottuvil via Mannar, Puttalam, Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota.

According to the advisory, it is dangerous to engage in activities in these sea areas.

The Met Department has also warned that the prevailing showery conditions over the South-Western parts of Sri Lanka would continue.Showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, and North-western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

Heavy showers of about 150 mm are likely at some places in Sabaragamuwa Province and in Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts.Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm are likely at some places in the Western province and in Galle and Matara districts.

Lakshapana experienced heavy showers of about 157 mm in the 24-hour window that ended at 08:30 am on Monday (03).
