Ambalanthota police make record heroin busts

The Ambalanthota police detected 25 kilos of heroin at Koggalla, Ambalanthota, on Thursday, and seized another 3kg of heroin from a house in Mulanagoda, Angunukolapelessa, yesterday.Acting on a tip-off, the officers of the Ambalnthota police raided a house at Koggalla and found the 25 kilos of heroin hidden in two sacks while three kilos of heroin found concealed in an empty LP gas cylinder.

The police have taken five suspects including a woman into custody DIG Mahesh Senarathne, DIG in charge of the Matara and Hambantota Police Divisions, said that it was the largest consignment of heroin taken into custody by the police.
