Kavindu Amameth top scored with 82 runs for Colombo North.

Colombo North emerged as the unbeaten champions of the Sri Lanka Cricket conducted Inter Provincial Under 17 tournament as they beat Kandy by 19 runs in the final of the tournament played at Dambulla on Monday.

Chasing a target of 284 runs to win a top knock of 93 runs by Supun Waduge was in vain for Kandy as they were bowled out for 264 runs with nine balls remaining in their innings.

In contrast a vital knock of 82 runs by Mahanama College batsman Kavindu Amameth stood in good stead for Colombo North as they posted 283 runs in their innings.

Amameth’s knock which provided the base for Colombo North’s success came in 100 balls. It included seven fours and three sixes and when he was out in the 31st over the team had reached 151 runs. Amameth was adjudged the Man of the Match.

Samindu Maduranga and Koojana Perera also made vital contributions to boost the score. Sheshan Yashon was the pick of the bowlers for Kandy.

In their essay Kandy had Waduge scoring the bulk of runs but when he was out for 93 runs (11 fours and one six) the middle order folded up cheaply.
