Alleged JVP-Alles deal: Minister says Nagamuwa hiding
Public Security Minister Tiran Alles yesterday said that the CID had recorded a statement from him following Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) allegation that he had invested funds overseas together with the JVP.
The Minister said that the police hadn’t been so far able to question FSP’s Duminda Nagamuwa, who made the allegation as he could not be traced. Alleging that FSP spokesman Pubudu Jagoda had sought to play down the importance of Nagamuwa’s statement later, Minister Alles said that both had worked with him in the run-up to the 2010 general election.
“Yes, they were with me. They were always in my office those days because the JVP, too, contested under the DNA or Democratic National Alliance. General Sarath Fonseka and Arjuna Ranatunga, too, were with us,” Minister Alles said, adding that was before the breaking up of the JVP.
