ALL schools in WP and NWP closed till April 30

Education Minister Professor G. L. Peiris yesterday announced that all schools, pre-schools and Pirivenas in the Western and North Western provinces would be closed until the end of the month.

This decision has been taken as a precaution due to the recent surge in new COVID-19 cases.

However, the schools in other provinces would reopen for students as per usual from today (27), the Minister said.

In view of the government’s decision, all Catholic schools in the Western and North Western provinces would also be closed until Friday (April 30), the Bishop’s House said.
