All-island JP arrested while brewing illicit liquor

Policemen attached to the Western Province South Crime Prevention Division nabbed an all-island justice of the peace while he was brewing illicit liquor in a house at Kohilawatte, Wellampitiya.

The police also took into custody 22,500 ml of moonshine in seven barrels, a copper coil, etc., from the crime scene.

The raid had been carried out as a part of anti-narcotic raids conducted by the police under the Yukthiya operation, police said.

The police said that 74-year old JP and his 52-year-old accomplice would be produced before courts.
