National Peoples’ Power (NPP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayaka, on Thursday (04), said animosity among the Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim communities has been created by the political class.

Addressing a meeting in Jaffna, Dissanayake said those in the South had now realised that fact.

“Most people in the South won’t be fooled by racism of politicians. We urge the people in the north to join us, and let’s relegate those elements whose political survival depend on promoting racism, into the dustbin of history,” he said.

Dissanayaka added that India, a very diverse country, had become unified under one flag. “We have been fighting over the flag.

“Let’s start afresh. Let’s establish a government that represents all the people in the country,” the NPP leader said.
