The Attorney General yesterday (14) informed the Supreme Court that the earlier undertaking given to the Court that Harin Fernando of the Samagi Jana Balavegaya would not be arrested, would be extended till September 1, 2021.

The Fundamental Rights violation petition filed by Harin Fernando will be next mentioned on September 1.

Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Pieris appeared for the Attorney General.

MP Fernando has said in his Fundamental Rights violation petition that he feared arrest by the CID over the Easter Sunday bomb blasts on April 21, 2019. The unfair arrest should be stopped by an order of the Court.

President’s Counsel Romesh de Silva appeared with Panduka Keerthinanda and Sugath Caldera for petitioner Harin Fernando.

The Bench comprised Justice Priyantha Jayawardena, Justice Kumudini Wickramasinghe and Justice Mahinda Samayawardena.
