Agriculture workers seek Fisheries Minister’s intervention

Those who have been attached to the Agriculture Research and Development center, Kilinochchi, recently requested Fisheries Minister Douglas Devananda to intervene on their behalf.According to a Fisheries Ministry statement workers requested that they be accommodated on the permanent work force as they experienced severe economic difficulties.

Minister Devananda, who is also the leader of the EPDP (Eelam People’s Democratic Party), met the workers on Wednesday (15) in Kilinochchi.

Pointing out that they had been employed there since 2014 but continued to be deprived of benefits enjoyed by other government workers as they were yet to be made permanent.Minister Devananda, over the phone, has requested Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera to address the workers’ grievances, and he assured them that he would resolve their problems soon.
