AG undergoes PCR testing

One hundred and sixty seven persons, including Attorney General Dappula de Livera, were subjected to PCR tests on Wednesday as two persons present at a recent event they attended tested positive for COVID-19.

Deputy Director of Health Services – Vavuniya, S. Mahendran said the test results came on Thursday night and none of them had contracted COVID-19.

A large number of people including state officials attended the opening of a new AG’s Department building in Irattaperiyakulam, Vavuniya on Dec 10 .

AG de Livera was the Chief Guest at the event. Later, it was found that a lawyer and a policeman in attendance had contracted COVID-19. Those who attended were placed under self-quarantine and subjected to PCR testing.

Among those subjected to PCR tests are the District Secretary of Vavuniya, Divisional Secretary of the Vavuniya South – Sinhala Division, senior police and Army personnel and all judges and lawyers of the Vavuniya Court.
