AG sends police shortcomings over Swarnavahini probe in writing to IGP

Attorney General Dappula de Livera, PC yesterday issued written instructions to IGP C D Wickremaratne as regards the serious shortcomings in the investigations conducted by the police into the sale of Swarnavahini shares to foreign buyers.

The AG’s Coordinating Officer, State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne, told The Island that the AG returned what she described as incomplete files along with instructions how to finalise the investigations. According to her, legal action couldn’t be taken on the basis of investigations conducted so far. (SF)
