Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court, on Monday, sentenced a youth to one year rigorous imprisonment for stealing two pairs of jeans worth Rs. 40,000 from a prominent apparel store at Cinnamon Gardens, Colombo, in 2017.

The Court sentenced the youth to prison after concluding the case which had dragged on for six years without witnesses.

The suspect, who is a resident of Colombo 08, stole the two pairs of jeans priced at Rs. 19,900 each from the apparel store in January 2017.

Initially, the Cinnamon Gardens Police inspected CCTV footage and apprehended the suspect, but he was released on bail.
