Advisory for Strong winds issued by the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre at 10.30 a.m. on 27 May 2024, valid until 10.30 a.m. 28 May 2024

The public have been warned that strong winds about (50-60) kmph in speed can be expected at times over the Western slopes of the central hills and in Northern, North-central, Western, Southern and North- western provinces and in Trincomalee and Monaragala district, due to the increase of south-west monsoonal wind flow over the island.  Fairly strong winds about (30-40) kmph can be expected at times elsewhere of the island.
