Advisory for Severe Lightning issued to Northern, North-central and Eastern provinces and to Kandy and Matale districts

The Natural Hazards Early Warning Center of the Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory for Severe Lightning. The advisory issued at 01.30 p.m. 08 October 2023 will be in force until 11.30 p.m.

The public have been warned that thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several places in Northern, North-central and Eastern provinces and in Kandy and Matale districts during the evening or night.

As there may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity
