Advisory for heavy rain issued for Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces

The Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre of the Department of Meteorology has issued an Advisory for Heavy rain for the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces. The advisory was issued at 02.00 p.m. today (07) and will be valid until 02.00 p.m. tomorrow (08 October 2023).

The advisory states that the prevailing showery condition in the South-western part of Sri Lanka is likely to continue further due to low level atmospheric disturbance over the island.

As a result,  showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and North-western provinces and in Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts while heavy showers, above 100 mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces.
