Abhishek takes four wickets to restrict Trinity to 203

Spinner Sheron Abhishek took four top order wickets to restrict Trinity to 203 runs on day one of the Under 19 Division I tier ‘A’ cricket final at the SSC grounds on Monday.

Deciding to bowl first Richmond toiled for 29 overs before Abhishek gave them the first breakthrough. Openers Dimantha Mahavithana and Viduka Dhammage put on 71 runs before Abhishek had the latter stumped by Chehan Subasinghe for 31 runs.

Abhishek’s top order wickets and a crucial run out derailed Trinity. Pacemen Sihath Ramanayake and Kaveesha Induwara then rattled the late order to restrict Trinity to 203 runs.

In reply Richmond were 14 for no wickets at stumps.

Today is the penultimate day of the three-day final.
