Abduction of boy: Two suspects remanded

Two suspects arrested in connection with abducting a nine-year-old boy in Eppawala were remanded when they were produced before the Thambuttegama Magistrate.

Thambuttegama Magistrate ML Nuvan Kaushalya ordered that the suspect who had allegedly abducted the 09-year-old boy in Gadivemula and the Rikillagaskada Municipal Council driver who had aided and abetted the former be remanded until 04 Jan, 2023.

The suspects are Asela Priyantha Fernando, an electrician, and Amila Sampath Kumara Nanayakkara, a 42-year-old father of three, the owner of the house in Johnsland estate, who helped the main suspect to escape from Eppawala with the child and hide.The nine-year-old boy abducted in Keeralogama, Eppawala around 8:30 pm on the 19th, was found close to midnight on Friday (23).
