A sincere strong leader – need of the hour

Suffice it to say millions would agree that what Sri Lanka really needs at this juncture is an honest and strong-minded individual to pull the country out of its present predicament. He/she should be a leader with no political affiliations whatsoever.

The country is full of so-called leaders. Citing a few examples from among the current players at the helm of proceedings, one could conclude as follows:

From what the media portrays on a daily basis, President Gotabaya seems to be fast losing popularity he enjoyed a couple of years ago.

Premier Mahinda Rajapaksa, who undoubtedly is a charismatic leader, seems to have lost interest in running the country.

Given his track record, former President Sirisena can in no way be considered a born leader.

The whole country knows that former Premier Ranil is a self-centred politician interested only in himself.

Former President Chandrika is more or less a spent force now.

From among those in the fray currently, Sajith Premadasa has up to now failed to prove that he possesses charisma to woo the public.

The JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake is a great orator but history of his party continues to prevent him from leading the country.

Hence the need for a true leader to rise phenix-like from the shambles of a near disastrous country.
