A/L exam postponed; new dates to be announced next week

Education Minister Susil Premajayantha told Parliament yesterday (21) that the Examinations Department had postponed the GCE A/L the examination in response to appeals from students and teachers.The Minister said that the A/L examination had been scheduled to be held in October 2023, but the release of the results of the 2022 A/L examination had been delayed due to trade union action.
The results of the 2022 A/L examination were released on 04. Sept. By 31 July 31, the Department had received 324,410 applications from candidates for the examination originally scheduled for October 2023.
After the release of the results, some more candidates numbering 18,473 had applied for the same exam by Sept 18. “As such, now we have a total number of 342,883 candidates. This is an increase of 10,837 candidates compared to the number of applicants for the 2022 AL exam.
