A Distressed Mother
By Lynn Ockersz
Patient was She with Her cruel Sons,
Who took for granted Her kindness,
Over the past restless millennia,
Ran through Her precious riches,
With ruthless rapier thrusts,
Denuded Her of Her green garment,
And made of Her a hapless rape victim,
But Mother now says, ‘Enough is enough,
I’ll need to put you in your places….
Here’s for starters, sweltering weather,
And wildly spreading forest fires,
May be, you’ll begin to take seriously,
Your job of Nature’s care-taker.’
