A Cue from Vavuniya
By Lynn Ockersz
The rising voices of discontent,
Emerging from the gaping crevice,
Disfiguring the once war-torn isle,
Are certain proof at hand,
That when the guns fell silent,
On the banks of the Nandikadal,
Much remained to be done,
By way of healing hearts and minds,
But Vavuniya, a multi-ethnic space,
Has set a steady pace,
For curing these burns simmering inside,
By making Sinhala and Tamil voices,
Chime out the national anthem with joy,
From one solidified stage.
