A brighter scene, but…
Whenever I check social media – Facebook, in particular – I see a whole lot of showbiz events being advertised. And, that means…yes, the local showbiz scene is certainly brightening up!
But, are we acting in a responsible manner when we attend such events!
Sing-along evenings, before the pandemic showed up, were very popular, as they were classified as family outings, where the whole family could spend an enjoyable evening…and the opportunity to exercise their vocal chords, as well!
They were held annually and good fun was had by all, especially when some of the guests were in the vocal spotlight!
The band that was associated with sing-along entertainment – pre-pandemic – was Sohan & The X-Periments. And, Sohan certainly knows how to handle the crowd and get them involved in the action.
Unfortunately, with the pandemic, entertainment came to a standstill, for almost two years.
However, a kind of normalcy seems to be returning to the local entertainment scene, with lots of events being advertised – leading up to Valentine’s Day…and beyond!
And, there’s going to be plenty of action for sing-along fans, as well, with Sohan & The X-Periments and Trishelle doing the needful.
Clifford, Corrine and Sohan…at ‘Hitz & Beatz,’ February 20th
On Sunday, February 20th, a sing-along, ‘Hitz & Beatz,’ will be held at the Cinnamon Grand, and will feature, in the spotlight, Sohan, Corrine, and Clifford, along with The X-Periments and Trishelle, and with a guest performance by Annesley Malawana.
Six days later, on Saturday, February 26th, Sohan and his team will be doing it again…at a sing-along, organised by the Old Nalandians’ sports club.
The evening’s entertainment will be at the Grand Monarch, Thalawathugoda, and will also feature Keerthi Pasquel and Falan Andrea.
This is certainly good news for sing-along enthusiasts, and, probably, there will be more to follow.
However, nothing is predictable with the Omicron variant still big in our scene and with new cases on the rise daily. And, that’s where we have got to act accordingly, to help the health authorities to curtail the spread of this virus.
There are lots of DJ events being held over the next few weeks and I wonder if the organisers would strictly implement the health guidelines – masks and social distancing, in particular.
Keerthi Pasquel and Falan Andrea…sing-along scene
But I can’t see this happening here, especially when there is dancing involved. The dance floors are generally packed!
Just for the record, everyone was required to wear a face mask as they queued to enter the Pattaya Music Festival, in Thailand, in November, 2021.
Anyway, let’s keep our fingers crossed.
In the meanwhile, I’ve also been told that a special event is on the cards that will feature one of our top bands, with guest artistes, as well.
The organisers are thinking of a five-star venue but, here again, it would all depend on the virus situation.
