SLT ranked among ‘10 Most Admired Companies’ of Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) has been recognised among the ‘10 Most Admired Companies in 2020’ for its continuous efforts in empowering Sri Lankans, spanning over 162 years. The prestigious title is presented to SLT for being a role model to other organizations and entrepreneurs through their remarkable financial achievements and their valuable contribution to society.

Commenting on this award, Rohan Fernando, chairman, Sri Lanka Telecom said, “It is an absolute privilege for SLT to be named amongst the most successful businesses in the island that have showcased excellence in leadership and integrity. It is crucial for our country to have companies that give back to our society and have a common goal of uplifting the nation through innovation. Throughout the years, SLT has launched countless initiatives and partnerships to support individuals, organizations, professional bodies, schools, and hospitals to have the necessary ICT infrastructure enabling national economic growth and development. The Most Admired Company Awards is an annual event hosted by the International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (ICCSL), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) among others. The selection process includes a survey that requests the public to vote for the companies they admire. The companies are ranked upon a thorough evaluation conducted by an eminent panel of judges who asses the company in terms of financial performance as well as their impact on employees, customers, investors, and the community.

With the purpose of bringing Sri Lankans together, SLT has successfully laid out fibre optic networks across the country for nearly 50,000 kilometers. SLT’s national backbone network and Data Centers also serves as a veritable asset in the country’s development by fulfilling the needs of all ICT operators in the country. Establishing its excellence beyond the country, SLT has also positioned itself as a key global player by connecting Sri Lanka to the world through international submarine cable systems through SEA-ME-WE cable consortium.
