75 year old woman falls prey to Crocodile

A 75 year old woman who went for a bathe to the Walawa river in the Puhulyaya area in Ambalanthota was snatched from the river bank by a crocodile.

The woman a retired teacher who lived beside the river had gone for a bathe this afternoon (12) as usual when she was snatched by the crocodile. People who saw the incident raised the alarm but rescuers were unable to save her.

The victims body was recovered subsequently.
