’60s and ’70s vibes at the Galadari
Despite the pandemic creating problems for everyone, in every part of the globe, life has to go on…in the ‘new normal,’ of course.
No doubt, it’s heartening to see the local showbiz scene brightening up, on a regular basis, but, as I always say, we (the public) have got to act with responsibility so that what is happening now, where entertainment is concerned, will not suddenly come to a standstill.
The lobby, at the Galadari, has always been active, with several local artistes providing entertainment, on a regular basis.
And, commencing this Wednesday (Feb. 9th), the entertainment is going to be doubly exciting…at the Galadari.
Does the name Roger Menezes ring a bell! Those who have been very much a part of the local world of showbiz, in the good old days, would most certainly remember Roger.
He was seen in action with many of our top bands, including the Jetliners, Fireflies, Thunderbirds, Sam the Man, the Savages, and with his own band, Roger and the Webs.
Roger migrated to Australia, in 1973, and has since then visited the island a few times. He is, however, now coming back, after 20 years, to ignite his musical memories here, in Sri Lanka.
Besides his day job in Sydney, Roger has his own group, with his wife Cheryl, called ‘Stay Tuned,’ where they perform at corporate functions, etc.
‘Stay Tuned’ also participated in the musical part for the Sydney 2000 Olympics. They also did the New Year’s Eve scene, for five consecutive years, at the Sydney landmark Centre Point Tower.
Yes, Roger Menezes is in town and will be doing his thing at the Galadari Hotel’s lobby, from February 9th (that’s tomorrow) till the 27th.
On Wednesdays, Roger will be going solo, while on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, he will move into action with the bands scheduled to perform on those particular days – from 7.30 pm onwards
Roger will most certainly bring back the popular ‘60s and ‘70s vibes, so you have got to be there to experience it all…when music was so enjoyable to listen to.
