584 more COVID cases detected; count nears 50,000

584 new COVID-19 cases had been detected yesterday, and the total number of cases so far detected in the country since March last year rose to 49,259.

The new infections are from the Minuwangoda, Peliyagoda and prison clusters.

The country has recorded 240 deaths from the highly contagious virus. There have been 42,621 recoveries.
