49 more ‘Tourism Zones’ to be gazetted within a month – Tourism State Minister Diana Gamage

State Minister of Tourism Diana Gamage revealed plans to designate 49 additional tourist destinations as official tourist zones and that the locations will be published in the government  gazette within a month as part of the on-going efforts to boost tourism.

The state minister made the revelation during a press conference held at the Presidential Media Centre (PMC) under the theme “Collective Path to a Stable Country” today (29)

She admitted that there were many complaints of tourists  being over charged for food and travel, harassment and even sexual harassment which were tarnishing the reputation of the tourism industry.   “We cannot afford to let the reputation of our country suffer due to the actions of a few individuals who make mistakes” she reiterated
