40th Battle of the Golds commences on Friday 

St. Mary’s College, Kegalle will encounter arch rivals Kegalu Vidyalaya in the 40th Battle of the Golds Big Match on March 25 and 26 at the Public Ground, Kegalle.

St. Mary’s are the only team to have savoured victory in the series which started as a limited overs encounter in 1963. The two schools are playing in the Division II category of the premier Inter School Under 19 cricket tournament.

This year, St. Mary’s are captained by Maleesha Senanayake. Kushan Bhanuka is his deputy.

Kegalu Vidyalaya are skippered by Achintha Siriwardena.
