2023 CIM graduation: Developing crisis underlines importance of marketing
Country Head (Sri Lanka and the Maldives), Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Onalie Dissanayake asserted that the challenges caused due to the developments since eruption of covid-19 in 2020 underscored the role of marketing.
Dissanayake briefly explained how the shrinking markets increased the corporate clients’ dependence on them as part of the overall measures to understand customer behaviour and identify new opportunities.
She said so at the CIM graduation 2023 held at the main hall of the BMICH on Thursday (23).British High Commissioner Sarah Hulton was the Chief Guest.Chris Daly, Chief Executive, CIM and Maggie Jones, Director Qualifications & Partnerships, CIM attended the event.
Asserting that the current period as critical for markers across the globe, Dissanayake attributed the developing crisis to an explosive combination beginning with covid-S19 pandemic and economic uncertainty, political unrest and runaway inflation.
Dissanayake said: ‘I am pleased to state that we had the biggest graduation of CIM this year. It is encouraging to see that most professionals and 16-24 year olds have considered marketing as a top career choice, confirming that CIM is heading in the right direction, of supporting more marketers to be in the boardrooms. I congratulate all the graduates and members on their achievements. It is just the beginning of a long successful journey.’ (SF)
