Sharp drop in fuel consumption

The fuel consumption had dropped dramatically due to the use of the QR code and the price increases, a senior Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) official said.He said that there were stocks for almost two months and that a new ship carrying crude oil would reach Sri Lanka on 07 March.

The CPC is trying to fulfil 25 percent of the country’s oil needs from refining crude oil, he said.

“Currently, we are carrying out some renovations at Muthurajawela. There is no chance of the country having fuel queues again because the demand has plummeted. People have cut down ib all non-essential travel and they try to use public transport as much as possible,” he said.
