CIABOC will record Ranjan’s statement on Pandora Papers at his request

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has decided to record a statement from imprisoned former MP Ranjan Ramanayake on the findings of the Pandora Papers.

CIABOC Secretary, Apsara Caldera, told the media that the Commission had taken this decision in accordance with a request made by Ramanayake.

Accordingly, he would be summoned before the Commission on a future date to record the statement, Caldera said. The date was not specified.

The CIABOC has also decided to submit to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa an interim report on the investigation into the husband of former Deputy Minister Nirupama Rajapaksa, Thirukumar Nadesan, named in the Pandora papers which revealed the hidden assets of billionaires, the official said.

The CIABOC Secretary said that the investigations are being carried out and that an investigation team is studying the banking activities of Nadesan and documents taken by government agencies.
